Planning a kitchen renovation project from start to finish can feel like a huge task, especially if it’s something you have never done before!

Luckily for you, Moorgate Kitchens are experts in this process which involves several key steps. Here’s a general guide we created to help you through the process:

Set your goals and have an idea of your budget: Determine your goals for the renovation. Consider factors such as improving functionality, updating the aesthetics, increasing storage space, or enhancing energy efficiency. Set a realistic budget based on your goals and what you have to spend.

Research and gather ideas for your Wishlist: Look for inspiration and ideas by browsing home improvement magazines, websites, social media platforms. Consider factors such as kitchen layouts, materials, colour schemes, and styles that align with your vision.

Find a Reputable Supplier: Research local suppliers of kitchens and home design professionals. Check their credentials and visit their showroom to see if what they offer aligns with your project requirements and budget.

Design and layout: Work with your professional kitchen designer and allow them to create a detailed 3D plan for your new kitchen layout. This will allow you to visualise your new room and consider factors such as workflow, appliance placement, storage options, and overall aesthetics.

Select materials and finishes: Choose materials and finishes for your cabinets, countertops, flooring, backsplash, lighting fixtures, and appliances. Consider durability, functionality, maintenance requirements, and overall design cohesiveness. Ensure the design suits your needs and that the items from your wish list are all catered for.

Schedule the project: Work with your supplier to establish a timeline for the renovation project. Consider factors such as demolition, construction, plumbing, electrical work, and any other tasks involved. Discuss the schedule with the fitter and establish milestones for completion.

Prepare for the renovation: Clear out your kitchen cabinets, remove appliances, and protect any valuable items in adjacent areas. Create a temporary kitchen setup in another part of your home to ensure you have access to essential appliances and utilities during the renovation.

Finalise and enjoy your new kitchen: Once the renovation is complete, inspect the work with your fitter to ensure everything is to your satisfaction. Address any final touch-ups or adjustments. Clean and organise your new kitchen, and enjoy the fruits of your renovation efforts.

Remember, each kitchen renovation project is unique, and it’s essential to adapt these steps to your specific situation. Hiring a professional company to supply and fit throughout the process will help ensure a successful kitchen renovation.
