Full-time wheelchair user following a life-changing road traffic accident

main goal/challenge

The main goal was to have a kitchen that not only worked seamlessly for a wheelchair user but also functioned as the heart of the home for the entire family. The space needed to balance accessibility with a modern, welcoming design that encouraged family time together.

our solution

We designed a kitchen in our Alta Matt Anthracite finish, combining a contemporary look with innovative features that put accessibility and inclusivity at the forefront:

 • Height-adjustable straight rise-and-fall worktop – allows the surface to be lowered or raised at the touch of a button, ensuring it works the entire family.

 • The waterfall edge detail also provides an important safety feature by preventing spillages from reaching a wheelchair user’s lap.

 • Motorised wall units – with a simple press of a button, these cabinets lower to worktop height, making every inch of storage fully accessible.

 • Pull-out table tops – offering extra preparation space whenever needed, without cluttering the main design.

 • Peninsular design – creating a dedicated space for family gatherings, making the kitchen a true hub where everyone can cook, eat, and spend time together.

the result

The finished kitchen not only gave full independence but also provided a stylish, practical space where the whole family can come together. Every feature was thoughtfully designed to meet personal needs, ensuring the kitchen is both inclusive and beautiful

Full-time wheelchair user with Cerebral Palsy

main goal/challenge

Our clients wanted a kitchen that would help their son be more independent and involved in family life. Their existing kitchen wasn’t accessible, worktops were too high, storage was out of reach, and cooking safely was difficult. The goal was to design a space that gave the client freedom to cook, eat, and connect with his family, while maintaining design elegance and quality.

our solution

Our team created a bespoke kitchen in Princeton Paint-to-Order Bottle Green; a timeless design with a modern finish. Every element was planned around accessibility, safety, and inclusion, without compromising on style.

 Key accessible features included:

*Height-adjustable rise-and-fall worktop – the sink and hob are integrated into a motorised surface that can be raised or lowered at the touch of a button, making it
comfortable and functional for every family member.

*Waterfall edge detail – a subtle but vital safety feature that prevents spills from reaching the wheelchair user’s lap.

*Peninsular design – a social, family-friendly layout that encourages interaction and makes mealtimes more inclusive.

*Pull-out, heat-proof shelves beneath the Neff Slide & Hide oven, allowing hot dishes to be handled safely and independently.

the result

The transformation has been life-changing for their son. He can now prepare meals, help with cooking, and take part in family time. All from a kitchen that’s safe, stylish, and designed entirely around his needs. The project proves that inclusive design and luxury can coexist beautifully creating a kitchen that empowers independence while bringing the whole family together.

customer profile

Jewish homeowner with a vision impairment and a muscle-wasting illness; occasional wheelchair user

main goal/challenge

Our client wanted a beautiful, functional kitchen that would allow her to maintain her independence while supporting the requirements of her kosher lifestyle. Living with a muscle-wasting condition and vision impairment meant that both mobility and ease of use were crucial. The design needed to accommodate occasional wheelchair use, provide clear zoning for meat and dairy preparation, and feature accessible storage and appliances all while maintaining a sense of calm, elegance, and warmth that reflected her personality and faith.

our solution

We designed a kitchen in our Harvard Pebble with Artic Marble worktops , a refined palette that balances light and contrast, aiding visibility while creating a sophisticated, timeless look. Every aspect of the space was planned around accessibility, safety, and kosher living.

Key features included:

*Dual-zone layout – separate preparation areas, sinks, and appliances to support

*kosher practices, with distinct visual and tactile cues to help with orientation.

*Height-adjustable rise-and-fall worktop – enabling the client to prepare meals comfortably whether standing or seated in her wheelchair.

*Low-level storage and pull-out larders – allowing easy access to everyday items without overreaching or strain.

*Textured handles and contrasting surfaces – providing tactile feedback to support visual impairment and improve navigation.

*Under-cabinet lighting with adjustable brightness – offering gentle, shadow-free illumination to improve safety and visibility.

*Peninsular seating area – creating a relaxed space for family and friends to gather, blending social connection with practicality.

the result

The finished kitchen perfectly balances faith, function, and freedom. Our client can now cook, host, and live more independently, confident that every detail has been considered for her comfort and wellbeing. The space is not only kosher-compliant and accessible, but also luxurious and inviting - proving that thoughtful design can be both deeply personal and beautifully practical.
